I was taken by the long takes as well. This film's exquisite camera work even outdid, in my mind, the 3-minute shot that begins Touch of Evil, the long take at the beginning of The Player, and most of Brian di Palma's long takes, too.
Still doesn't hold a candle to Russian Ark, though.
Holy crap. I hadn't heard of Russian Ark till you mentioned it, and upon reading about it, I'm dying to watch it! It sounds incredible. I just added it to the top of my Blockbuster Total Access queue so hopefully it'll get here soon.
(I also added Touch of Evil).
Any other good movies with long shots that you guys can think of? Not only is it technically astounding to me, but it adds a sense of genuineness.
