I am wondering what a good 3 hour free elective class that would require as little work as possible and be interesting enough that i don't want to shoot myself in the face instead of going.

Thanks.

Even if you do get bored and stop going you will still get an A.

If you are even slightly intellectual, Philosophy 5 can be interesting and is rather easy. Phil 15 (intro to logic) is also quite easy and chances are you've done half of it before. I recommend Finke as a prof. The homework is slightly tedious but requires little thought.

Have you taken Macro/Micro econ? If you get a class in a big lecture hall you never have to show up. Took em both, got a B in both with minimal effort. Done.

Can anyone else recommend easy classes? I need GPA boosters for (possibly) spring and beyond.

CS 319 Security Operations & Program Management

It's actually far more interesting and broad than the title of the course.

Is that still taught by Karl?

If it is, I recommend it. It's interesting, you might learn something, and you won't have to do any work.

Yes it is. And from what I've heard, it's going to be tons more fun than previously due to some new additions to the class.

well, what was hopefully happening was: getting some vmware licenses for us to actually set up some stuff for hands on experience (I think) and also writing a security plan proposal for an in-town company (I also think).

So they let you think for yourself now? That's cute.

I am suddenly in a position to find this thread useful. One of my classes is being canceled for the semester and I need 3 more credit hours to graduate now. Both econ classes are wait-listed (those were my orginal backup) so I want to at least have something else to fall back on as well. Are there are any super easy/fun IST classes I can take?

Current schedule: cs230, cs317, cs397, ist286

EDIT: This sucks, I have found a handful of classes to take but there are no slots left in any of them. I am going to have to show up to a bunch of wait listed classes and cross my fingers I can get in.

For shits and giggles, you could take ME 153 and make a clock, assuming you are good with machinery that was made before computers could fit into houses.

For IST, anything with Dr. Kehr.

I think IST 223, maybe it's 233, whatever, is the intro to telecom class. If you haven't taken it yet, take it

IST 233 is Telecom Networks with Dr. Kehr, IST 223 is Database Management with Barry Flachsbart (not a easy A)
