I am working on building an academic collaboration suite website for MS&T as part of an IS&T course project.

it is going to feature collaborative tools for sharing notes, documenting classes, posting media (lecture recordings etc), and finally a wiki to compile class files into. I know RollaChan already has a Test repository, but this is going to be more complex, and the idea is for it to be self standing, and not require too much admin interaction once it's up and running with lots of users.

anyway, I am thinking of URL's to use, and have come up with only 2 ideas so far... what do you guys like/dislike, and please send any additional suggestions.

I wonder how kosher some professors would be with this. I know one of my professors, Dr. Cox, specifically said that he considers his assignments, exams, lecture notes, etc to be copyrighted material to be use in one of his books someday. He considers copying material and posting it online to be a violation of his IP.

That is a valid point. I had planned to place a user agreement on the site stating that no copyrighted materials are allowed to be posted on the site without permission. If a professor claims that his materials should not be on the site, they will be removed by a moderator.

A large part of the site will be based around student's in class notes, which to me is questionable whether the teacher can claim copyright over something you write down on paper. I mean, where is the line between that and teachers/lecturers owning a copyright on the information that is in your brain?

I can "claim" a lot of things are copyrighted... doesn't mean that they legally are, though.

Regardless, I'm still doing this (and I was still going to do it before I decided to use it as a final project for a class)

Any feedback on domain names for it?
