I am looking for a gunsmith who can thread an FN FAL rifle barrel with a 9/16 x 24 LEFT HANDED thread (ones you screw on counter clockwise). It seems that all US machinists only have the equipment to cut right handed threads (ones you screw on clockwise - the norm here) and will not do left handed threads. Are there any machinists/mechanical tinkerers here who could do this? If so, let me know your price. Please e-mail cwatkin@mst.edu.

Thanks,

Have you tried Harris & Co.?

573-364-7724

Hours are Mon-Thur 6-9pm and some time on Saturday, don't remember. Give him a call after 6 tonight and ask if he can do it.

Harris was my first try and I have called just about everyone from Rolla to Willow Springs, Columbia, St. Louis, etc. The left handed threads are not obviously something gunsmiths have the equipment to turn.

Thanks,

I'll see if I can't find an AK specific gunsmith around here, I know one guy but he's mostly retired from gunsmithing and he's a lawyer now. But I'm sure there's someone else.

Thanks. Another guy has put me in contact with a gunsmith in the Steelville area that might be able to help.

Thanks,
