Is there a free program that plays AVI videos neither Windows Media Player nor Windows Media Center do.

Or a free program that converts between AVI and WMV.

VLC media player does pretty well with just about anything

you can download it nearly anywhere on the internet for free

If you like a clunky interface go with VLC..

I prefer CCCP with zoom player. Some like the MPC version, but both are included in the download.

When I'm watching a video I tend to watch the video and not look at the interface :D But to be fair to VLC, there is a new version with a nicer interface now.

I prefer to use MPC (media player classic) because not only does it come with the CCCP and it has a lot more options than VLC does as far as different renderers and such.

Plus VLC uses its own set of codecs, which break sometimes when doing .mkv things.
