Looking for some suggestions here... either Windows or Linux is fine.

Favorite free software for recovering data from a hard drive?
Favorite free software for wiping a drive?

Wiping - Darik's Boot and Nuke
Recommend unplugging all other drives before Nuking a drive. But it works really good. Even has settings for military grade wiping I believe.

Recovery - I haven't the slightest idea besides Linux itself. Sorry.

Yeah, I've used DBAN in the past but couldn't recall if I had to remove all the other drives or not. I guess the answer is to indeed remove the others, heh. Thanks.

I don't think you have to, but personally, I would. You can't accidentally wipe a drive if it's not plugged in.

Wiping: For windows, I've used Eraser. You can specify how many passes, etc it will do. *may* be cross platform, don't remember.
