Eh.. it ain't bad when you get one for free, tbh. Now I've got a mobile device that I can play music on, use GPS + Google Maps/Earth, get push e-mail notifications (as well as others, e.g. AIM, Facebook, etc.), and plenty more.. all for a monthly service plan of $0.

The fact that there is no multitasking kills me, and the article that Chankster linked to says it best why it kills me.

4 things that would have made me at least consider buying the iPad:
1. USB ports.
2. A real OS with native multitasking and the ability to install applications outside of the ones in the App Store's walled garden.
3. Flash support
4. USB ports. (yeah I said it twice, but I think its a pretty big fucking problem with the thing)

As is I will wait to see how it turns out and if its reasonably successful I'll probably pick up a Windows or Linux based clone in six months to a year that I can do what I want with.

I love tablets, but this thing brings the definition of half-assed mediocrity to a whole new level.

Did the designers forget who they were making this for?

Die-hard apple fanboys who use cash to wipe their asses?

I share theshed's opinion- the lack of usb ports is a major downer. On the plus side you can buy a usb adaptor, but on the downside you have to buy it

Plus you have to carry around an adapter the size of a half dollar and have it sticking out of the side of the device when you're using it.

My biggest problems were in respect to it's attempt to be a good e-reader.

No free 3G
Books cost $5 more then amazon ebooks.
Screen is a standard LCD not e-ink or OLED. This thing will be no different then trying to read books of a typical LCD monitor.
Not to mention it is the most expensive e-reader out there.
But it's in COLOR so it's all good.

It fails compared to products that have been out for months. So if it isn't a good e-reader what the hell is it good at?
