A friend of mine and I are going to DefCon at the end of the month, and we have some extra space in our hotel room due to some backouts. We'd like to fill that space with a few individuals if possible, drop me a line if your interested or want details.
Well, since one of my teachers is being an asshole, I'm not flying down until friday afternoon, but the rest of the group is headed down thursday night. Are you roadtripping down there?
We will be there three nights, Jul 29, Jul 30, and Jul 31
For those that don't know, or can't use google, Defcon is a big hacker convention that takes place every year in vegas, there will be talks on computer security, vendors selling lots of equipment, hacker related games and contests, and it should be both an enjoyable and informative trip.

Roadtrip. St.L->KC->LV. Our car is full, and probably our room too.
I'm still trying to get my radio scanner back from some cockbite who has it. I lent it to a friend a year ago because they were going to DC, and I wasn't, somehow it got to someone else in St. Louis, and I haven't seen it since.

I can't go this year, but next year, I will try to make a point to remember it. Sounds like an awesome place to be to find all kinds of fun equipment. BTW, why do you want your scanner for the trip? Are you gonna be speeding or doing various illegal things and want to keep a close eye on the authorities?

I have/had programmed into it a massive list of freqs I had found in the LV area. LV cops, sheriff's office, ambulance dispatch, bunch of the cab companies, security and services for most of the hotel/casinos, etc. Lots of good stuff that makes for interesting listening when you are sitting around between talks. Besides, alot of people use ham or FRS frequencies at Defcon to communicate, it's a good way to find parties.
I remember one year a guy was reading out root passwords for various places over a frequency when I showed up at his door wearing my AGENT vest. Turned out he and his friends were from Rolla. Good times.
