When I restart my computer, it asks me for a password (I dont have a password on my account, I've checked). Then it wont let me access any programs because it says I dont have permission to change files or activate them. What the hell can I do to fix this, reformat is not an option.

sounds like the same problem i had last semester. for some odd reason a password screen popped up one day when i went to start my comp (when i knew i didnt have a password activated). i cant remember how i got into windows but once i did, all hell broke loose. for some odd reason microsoft office kept trying to install (although it was already installed). i dunno, reformatting might be the only solution.

If you're locked out then look for a program that will let you back in.
The way it works is by changing the SAM file, which from what I know is like a permissions file.
You put the program on a floppy and boot from it.
Make sure you read the warnings though, if you corrupt the SAM file you'll have to reinstall.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention.

Do a google search for it, and of course I don't know if you'll find one for whatever version of Windows you're running. I've only used one on Win2k.

I had to use this just the other day. Found an excellent program.

Type "austrumi-0.8.4" into google, should find some links to it. When it asks you if you would like to blank the password or change it to something, just blank it out. Very easy.

the autologin might have either gotten turned off or confused.
