no, I don't own one, but a friend showed me a mac laptop while I was over at her apt. The screen was doing some weird shit like when a vcr has it's tracking off. She asked if I could fix it or whatever, but I have no experience whatsoever with using OS X, and none with fixing them.

I told her that it's probably a shitty connection between the screen and the laptop innards, but since it was a laptop, I wasn't going to risk opening it up, and she should just bring it in for service.

Any input?

i've never seen a poor connection produce that result. just because it's a laptop shouldn't scare you from taking it apart. it can be disassembled like anything else. if it has osX, i assume it's probably new enough to still be under warranty.

but... as was said recently... apples are best used to test gravity.

I've heard of one or two people having similar problems. As I understand it, there was a manufacturing problem that caused the display cable to get pinched after being used. My advice? Take it in. There's no point in wasting your time and potentially breaking more stuff if the manufacturer is willing to foot the bill. In my experiences, Apple has always had a kick-ass customer service stance.
