Has anyone successfully been able to hook up a PS2 to the dorm internet connections (Quad)? I have some friends who have done it but they had the PS2 behind a router, which takes care of the problem of you having to register it's MAC address. I imagine the NIC in this PS2 has a MAC address that could be registered, but I have no clue on how to find out what it is.

Anyone have a good generic solution for this?

it gave me the mac address when i configured the internet connection on it. Just scroll throuh some of the crap it tells you when you do it.

I'm not sure if all games give it to you though. You could probably use some routers to figure out what the mac address is too.

Alright, well I guess Sony found it appropriate to store the MAC address under a few levels, but here's what ya need to do.

I'll assume you don't have anything set up yet.

Insert the Sony Modem/Ethernet Adapter Disc...

At the Menu, select...

ISP Setup -> New Network Setting -> LAN -> Automatic Configuration -> Advanced, at this screen, you'll see the MAC Address you need to register with to get the PS2 on the UMR Network... just leave everything the way it is, autodetect and hostname are fine the way they are. Once you've registered with UMR IT, go ahead and do the Test Setup, and after that's up, you can select a name for your settings and save it to your memory card.

And you're done.

Any more questions or if something doesn't work (personally I just have the PS2 behind my router so I don't need to register it on the UMR network, but at one point I did have it plugged directly into the wall), let me know.
