Hey... I moved off campus now... too cheap for high speed so I'm gona use umrs dial up. Needless to say I can't do a linux network install. I was wondering if anyone had the disks to Mandrake 10 official or Suse 9.1 proffesional that I could barrow?
thanks,
Brandito
edit: I guess to be correct I should have said CDs instead of Disks.
you just posted from tj...is there a reason you can't burn the mandrake 10 isos there?
Lets stop and put on our thinking caps for a second.
ask if anyone would let me borrow some cds...
ooooooor
go to tj, spend 4 hours downloading in a lab, find out that I don't have enough space on my s drive and try to save on the c drive of a lab computer, then spend another hour of burning 3 cds.
I would pick the first one.
Dongfuzi... you don't use linux so I already knew you would not be able to let me borrow any cds... but thanks for trying to be a beoch.
how about you ssh into gpunix, and save the .iso's to the /tmp dir, and then make a symlink to the .iso's in your afs account. That ways when you goto a compy lab, you got your .iso's right there.

1)"Source: TJ Hall" doesn't automatically mean you're in the clc...just cuz you live off campus it's still possible to have friends in tj that might let you use their computer
2)the mandrake 10 isos are available via the umr ftp site here...it would not take 4 hours to download from anywhere on campus [think 10Mbit lan]
i was simply offering a suggestion as to how you might obtain said linux cds. hell, i'd have let you come burn them on my comp if you brought your own blank cds.
hive.. I wasn't "jumping down your throat" (at least I wasn't meaning to).
don't worry... everythings cool.
all I was wondering if someone would let me borrow some cds...
it is all taken care of now...
I knew about the ftp server...
I know how to burn cds... I am just too lazy.
That is why I asked if I could borrow some... not ask how I could burn my self a copy.
but it is over. done. fenito (sp?)
Thanks for all of your help, everyone who replied.
Kongfuzi... I think I have some cds on the way... but if you burned mandrake or what ever... heck... hook me up. You never know when you could need em. Mandrake 10.1 RC1 was out a little while ago. Hopefully 10.1 will stable out the otherwise bugy release... they still aren't using KDE's new 3.3 desktop... but that is alright. It's probably too new.
