Is anyone running a software RAID-5 under XP Pro right now? I'd like to know a few things about how XP Pro handles the disks, such as, can you move the array from one computer to the another and have the array recoginsed? Microsoft's data base gave me the impression it may not even be possible. Thanks for any feed back.

Sorry, won't work, talking from experience, even trying could cause you to lose everything. It is so, so true.
W/O SP2 XP raids can't have disks bigger than 134GB.

I'm using Linux software RAID-5 and it's working pretty well, FWIW. Anything with md support in the kernel (like Knoppix) sees the array at boot.

One of the requiremnts of this system would be the Windows XP Pro, OS. I was just wondering about the possibility of establishing a non-bootable RAID-5 Array without purchasing dedicated hardware since the compy would be little more than a really fancy data storage bank.
Fuzzylunchbox, if you could be a little more specific about your problems it would be very helpful, and fewer smillies would be fine as well.
