I was just at Staples and picked up a pack of 50 Memorex CD-R's (700MB, 80 min, 52x compatable) on sale for $10. I know they are cheap CD-R's, but who can complain for $.20 each?

i just noticed this the last time i was buying media, at the microcenter in kc, they had without any rebates:
100cd-r's(48x) for $15, holds 70gb's and
25dvd+r's(4x) for $15, holds 110gb's

you do the math... there's a dvd writer drive on tigerdirect or somewhere for $10 with rebates. if it's not tigerdirect, it's listed on either http://www.techbargains.com or http://www.slickdeals.net

are you sure that the CD-R's aren't 70 Mb, cause 70 Gb sounds like it might be incompatable with most software.

I got 150 CD-R's for free after Mail-in rebate from Best Buy goin on 2 years ago (day after Thanksgiving). Not that that deal should modify your price, but I still haven't used all of the first box of 75 yet.

No, see, they're 100, 700 MB CDs, with a total storage of 70 GB.

I think that's right, because I think most DVDs can hold just under 5gigs

4.36gb.

I get my DVD-R media from http://www.shop4tech.com. I like the Prodisc (Pioneer) brand which is $39 for 100pk, and there's various 10% off coupon codes on the intarweb via google.

i have fedore core 2 on a bootable dvd, in case someone was thinking that dvd's might not be bootable. i'm sure someone has already made or will make something that will let you burn multiple functioning bootable 700mb iso's along with other crap on a 4.36gb dvd.

I work in the VCC (Video Communication Center, where we put on video classrooms and all that) and we burn each class to a DVD. I think the ones we use can hold just about 4.8gigs.
