So this morning I wake up and turn on the beast and something odd happens. After it verifies my DMI pool, and goes to the boot prompt, it says "boot from cd" and will only attempt to boot from cd. What's even weirder is that there are green "matrix like" sqares slowly filling the screen. As it turns out, I left my dongle in the USB port and for some reason (due to my attempt to boot from other sources setting in bios perhaps) it skipped over my SATA drives and went straight to the dongle. I get why the boot didn't happen, but does anyone know why the matrix crap did?

My roommate built a new system recently. He has a new graphics card (ATI 9100), but has an old-ass monitor. When he boots up, he has the little green Matrix-like squares, and we're thinking that it's because he has a spiffy vid card and a shitty monitor

You overclocking your video card? That kind of stuff happens to me sometimes, but rarely. I remember starting up my machine 2 weeks ago, and right where the windows loading screen was supposed to be, there were all kinds of crazy artifacts. Restarted the machine and haven't seen it since.
