Hmm. That's odd. With mine, sometimes, cell phones will make them snap, crackle, and pop. Also if something bumps against the cord where it goes into the computer, it will make noises. Could also be a sign of your sound card starting to poop out. Try your speakers on a different comp, and then different speakers on your comp. Should let you know which is fucking up.
Maybe software somehow?

I have heard of a video card causing this.
Anyone else encountered this situation?

If you have a microphone hooked up and yo are not using it, and it is not muted, it can cause crackling noise. Mine was doing that last night. I was watching that Fascist party ad (laugh) and I kept getting this crackling sound from my front speakers. So I unpluged the mic and it went away. Nothing was blowing on it and it was sitting on its own, minding its own business.

it could be a sign of a PSU going out. Back in my KT133 days, I'd alter the registers to set the processor to idle. When I would then scroll my mouse, the processor has to wake up and that in turn puts a drain on the voltage level of the PSU abruptly. This could be detected because all the fans would slow down when the processor did something....due to voltage.....now let's say that this voltage went through the sound card towards the speakers...it could cause crackling and such. get yourself Motherboard monitor and watch your voltage levels.

the emf from the all the thiners in the computer can be picked up by the soundcard and speaker wires if condtions exist just so. moving the wheely thing shows up as an electrical spike. emf busrt shows up as sttic. its an old problem.

Maybe the bogon flux in your room is too high. Buy a cluon emitter or two and see if the problem goes away.

Do you have a wireless mouse? When I scroll my wireless one, my speakers always make a noise, and always have. I think they just pickup some of the signal from the mouse to the reciever.

I have had this issue with every KT, via chipset board I have had. Yes drivers sometimes work, also mute line, and mic. The noise comes from the video being changed a lot, and you might notice that if you just ‘shake’ the window you can get other sounds.
A better power supply or a higher quality board might help eliminate this, but yea, get the right drivers and mute stuff you don’t use including aux in.
