I need the 2 pin cables that plug into the motherboard for stuff like the reset switch and power led. All I need is that female plug with some wire attached to it. And I need approximately 20 of them. But I'm also very cheap. I'm sure everybody has a bunch of them laying around from previous projects.

An IDE cable may also work.

Out of curiosity, what do you need the wire+connectors for?

If you don't have any by next weekend, I could make some for you if it's for a good cause (and depending upon how long the wires need to be).

I am building an arcade cabinet. I designed it to have an interchangeable joystick assembly. Instead of buying an I-pac for every new joystick setup I want, I cut the IDE plug off the back of a dead hard drive and soldered wires onto it and wired those into my I-pac. Now I need wires to run from the IDE to the individual switches. My original plan was to use a normal IDE cable and simply strip the wires and attach those. But I do not have a cable that is long enough (need about 18"). I also thought there would be possible voltage drop issues creating lag since the wires in an IDE cable are so small. So the 2 pin plugs would work rather well considering there are normally lots of them laying around and have larger wire.

I know this sounds mildly crazy/idiotic but this is what happens when civils get a hold of a soldering iron

how many mame chd's do you have? I am interested in doing a similar project. You should totally document your journey and throw it up on here in a new thread.

Its pretty extensive. I have AutoCAD files, websites, products and several other items. It is a cocktail style cabinet but modified to be a side by side cabinet. It is supposed to play everything super nintendo and before. How would I go about doing a complete journal including pictures.

I need more actual mame roms but I have all the other bases covered.

Have a specific gauge in mind?

not really. just something bigger than the cheap ribbon IDE cables. I was told today that round IDE cables may have larger wires. If that is the case then I think that would work rather well. I dont need anything crazy like 12 gauge.

I just found one of those plugs I was asking for and the wire on it has the printing "26 AWG" and that seemed to work pretty well.
