as a board op @ kumr, i too have that problem. general solutions: seek, put an emulator and some roms on a jump drive, that can be hours of fun, onion is always good reading, warning forever is a good time, as is just reading all kinds of crap on the internet.

Sleeping is best, when I did the "worst job of my life" during the 2am-8am shift I would fall asleep and do the head nod wake up thing on and off for hours on end. You can imagine how ready I was for classes later that day.

Boycott making students work the shity shift.
Make a townie do it.
I hear some townies will work for chartwells food.

You can play wow without install, my roommate did it last year he said it was kinda laggy but still playable

I hate to burst your friend's computing bubble, but not having a game installed is not going to affect performance.
