Packet Loss

Is anyone else getting really bad packet loss while trying to play online?
I've been attempting to play CS:S but can't due to packet loss anywhere from 15-30

i get 15-20 packet loss every 10~ seconds

Same here. IT claims it's not their fault because they're useless and apparently incompetent. Little do they know, it happens to EVERYONE.

Imagine trying to play like that in a clan match.

anyone who's having problems like this should go to help.umr.edu and file a complaint through there so IT gets it through their heads that it's THEIR problem.

I re-opened it, but got no reply. So I made a new one and got a reply from Karl F. Lutzen himself

i didnt experience any packet loss during sat/sun

but soon as monday rolled around the corner, i started having packet loss spikes of 20 every few seconds

that's because you have to walk down the halls, and smack every kid that's whoring out a torrent or any other p2p app. The network goes to shit when everyone is downloading something. I cant even play on the UMR server from off campus anymore because dormie X decided to download the entire season of <insert show name here>

West TJ North should be LOS to EE. Time to break out the high-gain antennas and 300mw WiFi equipment. And hope the EE Wifi VLANs aren't in the Resnet shaper queues.
