I'm talking about the old Xbox. This question has probably been answered about a million times here on Seek, but how do you connect to Xbox Live through the campus network. I've heard things about the MAC address, but all I know about that is how to find it on my Xbox. I don't know how to use it to connect. I don't have a router, so any options involving one are out. I had manually input my laptop's IP address, DNS server address, and gateway numbers into my Xbox and it was working for some time, but it's having problems now. I'm asking to see if there are any better, more reliable ways of doing this.

Thanks. I don't actually know what a MAC is. Yeah, so I go to an engineering school. That doesn't change the fact that I don't know.

Now I keep getting registration failed messages. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I got the MAC address off my Xbox and I put it in the ethernet address box on the IT webpage, but when I click "register," it fails to register it.

well one thing you can do is mask your IP in your xbox dashboard. if you go to options -> network settings (something similar) there is a box where you can put in whatever you want, i did this for me and friends just putting in my computers MAC with the last digit one off, makes it easy to remember. try making a different MAC and see if that will register

I'll try it. Does the Xbox need to be connected to the ethernet port when I try to register it?

Alright, I think it worked. Thanks a lot, LostBoyz.
