go to nvidia's site and download the latest drivers for your specific card. that might be the problem or part of it.

nvidia doesn't appear to have drivers for it at all. look for yourself: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

I've got a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 Ultra

Yeah, that's them. Same thing I was thinking. I remember them having to make an individual page for the 7800 Go because for some reason or another it couldn't run on the "normal" forceware drivers (or I may be just pulling stuff out of my ass, but this is sticking in my head for some reason). However, just download those drivers or try one of the beta drivers off of this website if you so desire:

I assumed since they listed the 7800 that they'd also list the 6800 if they had it. You know what they say about assuming...

I'll try it and see if it works.

Okay, so I downloaded the new driver from the website, and it tells me the first step in installing the new driver is to uninstall the old driver. From control panel -> add/remove programs, remove nvidia drivers. So i did. Now my laptop is running without a video card. Very slowly.

I try to install the new driver, and lo and behold! It tells me:

The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.

So I have no driver for my video card. What now? Where can I go to get a driver, since the company website doesn't have one?

go to http://www.dell.com and download the drivers from there. . . . laptop video cards sometimes have probs with the default manufacturer's drivers, so whoever made the laptop will post drivers for their hardware. . . . go to service and support on dells site and type in your model number for your lappy and find video drivers for it, and install those. . . should be good to go then. . . . good luck

Got them from dell, thanks.

So it was updated in november 2005, which is about six months newer than the old driver.

But it still runs pretty slow, especially compared to how fast it ran at first!

Windows needs a "game mode" where it shuts down everything not needed to run the game. Windows takes up so much memory...
