In the nova prospekt chapter, while you're climbing the cliff, you come across a couple zombies near a campfire with a gas can between them. Also nearby is a rowboat with a couple spear-hook-pole things. You have to knock down the pole so you can walk up a ramp to get up the cliff.

Anyway, you can use the gravity gun to spear enemies to the wall. As it turns out, they can kill any enemy with a single hit - I speared a Myrmidont and killed it with a single hit! But the funny part comes when you try to spear something that can't die... like a gun turret! It crashes the game.

Also, I noticed that if you're in an area where you have to kill all the enemies to advance (like in Nova Prospekt where Alyx is with you) and you spear one with the hook-spear-pole thing, they don't count as dead, and you can't move on.

I guess, old as I am, I never got to play any old-school games. My parents wouldn't let us have a nintendo. We finally got a Super Nintendo, about a year or two before the 64 came out. So I only got to play the newer games, like Star Fox and F-Zero. The only other games I remember playing were Earthbound (still one of my favorites) and a few Mario games.

I'm 99% sure that it was 'b' 'a' start and that the select was optional. I don't know if it worked on any non-Konami games either.

All I know is that this spear thingie is awesome. I thik its' called a pike. I coudn'at mandge to spear a gunship with one, somebody should try that. When you spear a bug with one, it beacomes a ragdoll you can use the gaveity gun on it.
