When I start a legal copy of quake 3 server on the network in TJ it doesn't show up in anyone else's lan games window. It also won't show up when I create a game on the internet. Is this a problem with the TJ network? Does anyone know how to get around this?

Have your friends tried joining via direct ip? I'm not sure if it will work over in TJ, but it has worked for me over in the quad with UT2004. The game didn't show up on lan, but I could connect to the ip address. Let me know when you all plan on playing sometime and I'll hop in the server. :)

We tried that too. No luck. When I start the server it doesn't even show up in my own lan games window, this is the same for the other guys too.

try hamachi? won't slow anything down and usually works for little things like that. I use hamachi pretty much all the time for multi, whether its true lan or a virtual one.

I would use ioquake3, if nothing else than for the surround sound support.

Is there something wrong with the campus Q3 server?

Anything you would request for it?
