anyone play the demo yet? it looks interesting http://www.everybody-dies.com/ It's Global Thermonuclear War, and nobody wins. But maybe - just maybe - you can lose the least. |

yeah I preordered the game through Steam for only $10. Pretty neat for that low of a price, they really did a good job with the "simple but hard to master" type gameplay. |

I downloaded the demo, but haven't tried it yet. Looks like fun, though. |

Their other games (Darwinia and Uplink) have been good. |

Tried it, very slick presentation. A++ on widescreen autodetection. Unfortunately, I managed to mess up the tutorial such that it wouldn't continue. Also, even on max speed things are a little bit slow, although that was probably by design. |

Yeah. I played through the tutorial. Finished it, didn't get stuck although I saw where you could have. Seemed slow, I'm assuming you cannot speed up time in multiplayer? Or everyone has to agree on it? I donno if I could sit there for 3 hours ever so slowly moving my boats around while trying to nuke things. Looks great, good idea, maybe a little slow. But then again, I haven't played it online against real people. |

Yeah, I'm going to try it online before I make any final judgements, but I like the premise and inferface (reminds me very much of Dr. Strangelove's "Big Board"), but the game is a little too slow for my tastes. It's neat that you can play it in "real time," but I doubt I have the patience for that. |

Wouldn't you prefer a good game of chess? |

Chess on crack is bughouse, but CPMA and Warsow are close enough |

Joshua: Shall we play a game? David Lightman: How about Global Thermonuclear War. Joshua: Wouldn't you prefer a nice game of chess? David Lightman: Later. Right now lets play Global Thermonuclear War. Joshua: Fine. -------------------------------- David Lightman: Is this a game or is it real? Joshua: What's the difference? ------------------------------------- David Lightman: What is the primary goal? Joshua: You should know, Professor. You programmed me. David Lightman: C'mon. What is the primary goal? Joshua: To win the game. ----------------------------- Stephen Falken: Except, that I never could get Joshua to learn the most important lesson. David Lightman: What's that? Stephen Falken: Futility. That there's a time when you should just give up. Jennifer: What kind of a lesson is that? Stephen Falken: Did you ever play tic-tac-toe? Jennifer: Yeah, of course. Stephen Falken: But you don't anymore. Jennifer: No. Stephen Falken: Why? Jennifer: Because it's a boring game. It's always a tie. Stephen Falken: Exactly. There's no way to win. The game itself is pointless! ------------------------------------------------ Stephen Falken: General, you are listening to a machine. Do the world a favor and don't act like one. --------------------------------- After playing out all possible outcomes for Global Thermonuclear War Joshua: Greetings, Professor Falken. Stephen Falken: Hello, Joshua. Joshua: A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess? ---------------------------------------- |
