So I'm contemplating buying a PS3 (mostly for FFXIII and FF Versus XIII), plus it has a couple other games that are supposed to be good (Metal Gear Solid). But it's also being downgraded, like now it's not even reverse compatible.
So is it worth buying? Post your opinions/comments
From what i hear all 3 systems are due to get a price drop really soon.
I think the PS3 is getting better by the month, they dont have many exclusives right now but i'm sure they'll get stuff going for them soon enough. The 360 just had a great lead on the PS3 and its hard to make that up quickly.
If your looking to play games, then the 360 is definitely the system to look at right now.
Apparently the PS3 is getting a firmware update that will allow it to "play DivX and WMV file larger than 2 GB."
Does anyone know if that includes high definition video? One of the only reasons I have a second 360 is because it can play WMV HD. If the PS3 can do that plus DivX HD, that would be amazing.
I've never really had an interest in buying a new console until GTA IV came out and since that is soon I'm thinking of the 360 right now since its cheaper, I rarely if ever play online and GTA IV is coming out on both at the same time.
LB has an invite... also, inositle got the invite and paid for it early this week. Apparently he was only the list for a few weeks so I don't think the turn around time is too long. I went ahead and signed up on the chance that I buy a HDTV within the next few weeks and that inositles makes me think it's worth it...

Depends. BluRay is lovely but unless you've got an HDTV (not a tiny one either) it makes little difference. Otherwise, it depends on how badly you want to play GTA4 or FF13, and how much of a blow $400 is for you, plus more for games/movies.
I'd wait for another $$ drop...

The sonystyle card is going to save you $100. Cliffs notes: Any single purchase over $300, REGARDLESS of store or items on ticket, will result in a $100 credit back to your account. Only works once. I have the card, I'm going to use it towards a TV soon (you have 45 days from the day you're accepted to do it).
I was instantly approved, you all should have similar credit/success if you've had a credit card for any amount of time, and you might have luck anyways.
You could use this to get a 360 for $250ish, etc.

We've got a PS3 in our house, and I really like it. All we play are COD4 and Rock Band, which you can get on 360, but it still looks very good. I like the feel of the dual shock much better than the xbox controller. Backwards compatible with PS2/PS1 is a definite bonus too, but it's not available in all versions (i think). BluRay doesn't mean much to me now, but if it's the new industry standard, might as well get on board now. I'm considering picking up a couple of BR discs of stuff that I really want.
