I want to know if any newer (i.e. past 4 years) games have really captured anyone's attention. I'd rather stay away from FPS, to me they all seem the same. And it needs to be available on a PC platform. BRING IT ON!

Some I have liked so far are:
Warhammer 40K
C&C Decade
GTA: San Andreas

Give Sins of a Solar Empire a try. Very well done, but the game pace can get pretty slow.

Company of Heroes
Supreme Commander

Mostly Company of Heroes though. You can get the gold edition on steam for 40 bucks.

I really haven't played many non FPS games in the past 4 years and the only RTS games I really got into are Broodwar and Warcraft 3. I've also enjoyed playing Civilization. But below are some games I tried that seemed good:

Cultris (very fast OpenGL tetris clone) <free>
FreeCiv (open source game very similar to Civilization) <free>
Future Pinball (realistic pinball game/table designer) <free>
Audio Surf (music arcade game) <$10 on Steam>

I haven't played these games, but heard that they're good:

Oblivion (RPG) <around $50 for GOTY ed.>
Portal (first person puzzle game) <$20 on Steam>
World in Conflict (RTS) <around $40>
Trackmania Nations (racing) <free>

Ooooo. Portal.

Technically it's a FPS... kinda. But just fucking get it. You won't regret it.

trackmania is super fun. But tends to wear its self out after awhile. Definitely worth a check out though

I must agree with some of the above posters.

Portal is amazing.

You know, I really really missed this thread. I'm glad it's bloated, decaying body got brought back up to the surface.

Trackmania Nations Forever kills my productivity. I highly recommend it.

If by "pretty slow" you mean that a 10 person match of 5 humans vs 5 computers (with computers on hard or unfair) takes 18 hours, then you're right <_<

Yeah, multiplayer games of this can take quite some time, thankfully there is a save feature for said multiplayer games to where people can quit out and join again later.

I heard Fallout 3 is pretty good, if you have a 360.

PC version of Fallout 3 is released on the 28th. I am pretty sure I am going to grab that one and then never talk to you guys again.
