The lan is 2 weeks away and there are only 3 people registered!!! If you plan on going, please register @ http://www.minerlan.com. If you don't have a credit/debit card for Paypal, you can pay in person. Email

Jeff: jrkxc9 at mst dot edu
or Derin: dsp4g5 at mst dot edu

and put in the subject line: Register for MinerLAN in person.
Put the time and place you can meet us and we'll work something out.

$5 for food, playing video games, and a chance to win prizes is well worth it. Register now!

Just a tidbit about DotA. I'm not sure about the choice for easy mode. From my pub experience easy mode lasts as long, if not longer than regular mode. I haven't played much in the last year though, so that may have changed.

My thought is that easy mode will make the matches shorter. In my experiences, this has been the case, but I haven't played in leagues or tournaments. I'll think about changing the rules if several people feel the same way as you do.

If you have any other suggestions for tournament rules, please send me a pm or email: dsp4g5 at mst dot edu. Thanks!

Which do you think is better: random draft or league mode?

My thought was league mode because I've seen used in tournaments and leagues. I'd use -lm if it supported 3v3, but since it doesn't, I'm simulating it by having teams choose heroes before each match at the admin's table.

I was wondering how many spots are available? I noticed last time I checked there were 44 spots remaining, and I was wondering how many were available total so I could get an estimate on how many people will be there. :D

The number of spots is sort of arbitrary. The website has it set at 50 spots, but we could possibly go higher depending on the room we actually get.

I am not sure, but I am fairly certain the team tourneys are capped at 8 teams.

Registration usually spikes in the last few days, and people come without registering also...
