I even think this has been posted here before. However I am too lazy to actually verify that.

I debated this in IRC w/ Jeff before and it's only semi-impressive because the tape has been sped up. multiple times it slows down to show you the real speed. If you watch his arms you see them jump instead of fluid movements.

Very nice editing, but other than that... I'd say that's a pretty useless contraption.

I think they only slow it down to show you that he is actually hitting the right ones and not just mashing on an auto play of the song. I completely believe it is a true speed video. Especially during the short parts that don't have many notes or the short gaps in the song, his movements look very fluid and real(like at :50 and 1:17. During the fast parts it looks unreal, but all good drummers, in my opinion, seem to be able to defy physics with the number of times they can hit the drums/cymbals and how fast they can move their arms in such a short time period.

Just did a quick search and found this. His movements also look unreal. video

I'm going to blame this on multiple encodes from being ripped from youtube and then put on other sites..

Here's the original video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a497Hom ... annel_page

watching it in high quality makes his movements way more fluid. In the 1st vid you posted, which has been transcoded at least 4 times (original>youtube>CH>the link you posted), his arms def jump.

The 2nd one is believable because you see blurs and you can see the arms jump, it's moving to fast to see it well on youtube, but there weren't any jumpy movements. Which, when things jump like that, to me indicates cut frames from the video being sped up.

Yeah, pretty sure it's real too. It actually looks more "fake" when it's slowed down than when it's at regular speed, like his arms get all sludgy, as you would expect them to when it's slowed down. It seems real, and the guy just doesn't have anything better to do. Still, impressive.
