yeah, but hte lost souls are tricky mother fuckers. if you are battling multiple... let's say, two of them. and one of them is really close to you and the other is far away, you instinctively turn to kill the one closest to you, thinking that it's a bigger threat. but as soon as you turn your back, the far one charges and hits you. as for imps, has anyone else noticed the head-fake with the fireball? occasionally they will hesitate to throw the fireball, throwing off your timing when trying to dodge it. once i noticed it it helped me to avoid them.

but anyway attacking multiple enemies in this game sucks. if you are battling one from in front of you you are getting smoked in the ass. it's sometimes hard to find cover. luckily i caught the door code for the BFG in the beginning of the game so i could fuck the hellknights up for the first round. now im in hell.

my friend was bitching about the AI in this game, but i don't notice it. doom level designers know how to keep a player on his toes without a good AI. teleport a revenant in your face, and two imps down your ass that'll keep you paying attention.

ALSO i wish there was a quick key for tossing a grenade, and a key to switch to previous weapon. it would be very handy to walk around with the shotgun and switch to plasma or rocket with a button press (i know you can hit 7, but it's too far from AWSD to be convenient...) like how halo has Q as previous weapon. because the grenades are very convenient, but i only use them if i fucked up an accidentally stopped in between teh chaingun and plasma, or if i am using the plasma or chaingun and it's the adjacent weapon. halo-style grenade throwing would be ideal so you could toss a grenade and still keep firing, instead of having to waste the time switching weapons

Yeah, like I said - the biggest thing you have to worry about is keeping distance between the Lost Souls and yourself. Not only do they start going crazy on you when they're close, but while you're fighting the close one, you also have to worry about ones farther away charging in. The same is the case for the Cherubs. I hate those things...

Yes, I noticed it after a little bit, and I agree that it helps out a lot once you have. Honestly, though, they give you so much "stamina" that you can usually sprint for most of a given battle.

As for Hellknights, I found them to be pretty dissapointing. They end up just being "Uber Imps." They have pretty much all the same attacks, they're just more damaging. You end up fighting them slightly differently just because they have more health, but it's basically the same strategy.

Yeah, hellknights are easy. Find a good enough distance between him and 60 of the chaingun should be just enough. I agree that cherubs suck too, after they first swipe at you you practically have to shoot your foot to kill them. I wonder why there weren't alot of pinky demons. It would have been nice to have secondary firing for the weapons, ah well, save it for the next Doom.

just like in doom2. and then the barons of hell are just a hell knight with more health than that. except they left them out of this game. the thing i don't get is, supposedly there are 4 bosses, and i'm lilke 3/4ths of the way through the game and have only encountered one of them....

and i wish the mancubus wasn't just like a mini boss. then again maybe i do they sucked to fight

If you really care about switching weapons quickly, do it like pro players do. Bind all the weapons to keys close around your movement keys. For example, I use ESDF to move, q as plasma, w rocket, v shotgun, c chaingun, z machinegun, b grenades, g pistol, h flashlight. Takes a while to memorize and get perfect at switching to what you want, but once you do, it transfers to other games (bind similar weapons to the same keys) and you don't have to think about it ever again. I use the same key config for q3, similar for ut2004.. and if I go between games I have no problem switching weapons quckly.

I take it you've only faced the spider boss, and Mancubus does not count as a mini boss. Are you in Delta Labs yet?

i'm in hell. and i'm just going out on a limb here saying that i'm going to encounter another boss before i make it back to the delta labs... or whereabouts unknown

yeah the flashlight is already bound to F which is convenient. and 3 is good for the shotgun, and i know that 7 is plasma. basically i just use 7 as a middle ground. if i need a rocket i just hit 7 and scoll up one. if i need a BFG well, i'm usually too busy wetting my pants at what i need to shoot a BFG at to properly select the weapon in the first place

the archviles kinda disappointed me. they are really only effective in close quarters and the only times i've ever seen them they were really far away. and they don't really bring dead bodies back from the dead they just spawn IMPs... that was a terrifying animation, seeing the dead soldier jump back to life

Yeah there is a boss at the end of hell (save up on chaingun ammo), good news is you'll walk out with soul cube. Bad news, you lose all your weapons, AGAIN. For the next boss, try to walk in with a full soul cube and lots of assault rifle ammo. And save that BFG ammo, because it comes in handy during the final boss.

You'll see more archviles and they only get more annoying, so dont worry.
Im going through it again on veteran.
