So I log into my Yahoo! mail today and find out that they are trying to put at least a little pressure onto Google by giving everyone 100mb of storage and 10mb message transfers. Not sure if they are doing it for new accounts or not, I would assume so. Either way, I thought some of you might be interested in the news.

Hooray!
Now instead of 10 MB of Yahoo! Junk Mail, I can have 100 MB.
Of course this'll force spammers to step up to the plate and start spamming us with gigungous JPEGS and telephone dialers and things like that.
On a related note, sifting through my Viagra, porn and home mortgage e-mails the other night (thanks to Yahoo! Filters, which cans about 25% of my legitimate mail), I've noticed that all the porn ones I'm getting say Sexually Explicit--Christy puts shampoo bottles where the sun won't shine (or some such message--but always with the "sexually explicit" in the front). I know there's supposed to be some kind of new anti-spam legislation that just took effect a couple weeks ago--does anybody know if that's some new requirement or something? Or do these spammers just think we're too stupid to realize "Watch Jenna have fun with horses" isn't a scene from Disney's Spirit?
Though it does make it rather handy to write a rule to filter out anything with "sexually" in the subject line..
i don't get the whole gmail thing (g-g-g-g-g-g-g Gmail!).. a whole gigabyte worth of email space? how much does campus give us... 50 megs? i've kept every email recieved to date not including obvious junk email (no spam filter, i do it all by hand) and have had this account for 3 years and i haven't filled 50 megs. what the hell am i supposed to do with an entire gig?
none of it seems worth the trouble to go around telling people my new email addres
Being invite-only is the primary reason why gmail is so popular. There's no better way to make someone want something than to tell them they can't have it.

Everyone in gmail get's 3 invites every month or 2 to give to anyone they want. I've got 2 pilled up. It's a great service but i like my yahoo notebook alot also.

You obviously are not a ChemE. Damn that listserve. They send out useless crap, which is often a gi-normous .bmp or some other crap I don't want, about a job I can't have. It is not uncommon for emails on that listserve to be 1-5 megs. They fill up your mailbox quite quickly. I didn't even sign up for it. I'll probably ask to be taken off since it is completely useless.
i actually used to get a lot of email lik ethat being on the newspaper staff... every damn ad or junk mail would come to me... and twice a month i would get this stupid email for the CBCO blood drive, but they are retarded and they made it like 2 megs and they would send three at a time

Yeah it's a new law that was just passed. I think it was passed the middle of May and went into effect the beginning of the month. Apparently most people are too stupid to realize that "See ___ doing ___ with ____ while ____ watches" isn't exactly family oriented...
