So I heard that class only requires chem 1 and being a U.S. citizen. It's a special topics course, so does anyone happen to know if/when that might be offered next fall semester?

It WILL be offered.
The class is a blast, in both the literal and figurative senses. It's freakin' awesome and everybody should take it.
The class doesn't meet at all during the week. It meets in Richland, MO, over 3 weekends in the fall. Also, there's a large fireworks shoot in Kansas City that you'll set up, shoot, and tear down during the Monday-Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. Those three weekends, and the Thanksgiving shoot, comprise the entire class.
You've got to apply through the Distance and Continuing Education office on the first floor of ME Annex, or talk to Barb Robertson in the Mining office in McNutt. Either of them will get you sorted up with the necessary paperwork.

It truly is awesome. The only downsides is that they magically choose the 4 most inconvenient weekends (random chance, but it's bound to happen), and, no matter what the subject material, 13 straight hours of lecture just gets boring. Overall, I'd retake the class in a heartbeat.
