Hi this is Will's mom Ive got a question:
How is infinity graphed in the middle of a line graph? I did an experiment with marbles, a round bottle, and a ramp. The empty bottle placed at the top of the ramp rolls down. When a few marbles are added it rolls faster and faster. When a second row of marbles occurs then the bottle starts to slow down. At a critical number of marbles the bottle does not roll when placed on the ramp. If you keep adding marbles at some point the bottle starts to roll again very slowly. With addition of new marbles it starts to roll faster and faster, but never as fast as its maximum speed. I graphed this with Time on y-axis and #marbles on x-axis. I have an open space in the middle of this graph where time went to infinity because the bottle would never roll unless an outside force acted on the bottle. The graph looks strange with this open space. Is there a symbol or some notation used to indicate infinity in the middle of this kind of a graph?

The most common notation used for infinity on a graph is to draw each side of the graph up to the top of the paper, as shown in the picture. Then draw a vertical dashed line where infinity is. In the picture, it would be at x=0.
