I'm an EE looking for a 300 level math/stat course and someone told me about
Stat 353. I searched the forums and found some posts said the class wasn't that bad. Have any of you taken it recently? If so, How did it go?

I'd also like to know since I got to take it next semester too.

no. combinatorics (math 307) is much easier than most 300-level math/stats. A bit boring but go with it.

That's what I heard, but it's not offered next semester.

I took it.

Pretty much boring as hell. Pray you do (or don't, depending on what you value) get class in the computer lab like I did. Pretty much all everyone does is get on AIM express and talk to each other. That's all I did... and I got an A, but I crammed for the tests and we didn't have any homework.

Sam's pretty funny. Oh and the book is absolutely worthless. Only opened it to use the tables for the exams. That's about all I got.

Oh but assuming you pay attention, yeah, it's probably useful. It's probably most useful to majors that are going to be doing a lot of empirical experimentation THEMSELVES. It gives you some data collection and analysis techniques even if you don't do a lot of experimentation yourself, though too. I'd say the largest benefits, though, are learning experiment design (not experimental design).

I think it's probably most useful for physics, nucE, and chemistry.
