Is anyone taking IDE140 this semester at all? I'm getting frustrated that you can't get this book for less from anyone than you can to buy it used on amazon.

Frankly the price of it is rediculous:
Quote:
HIBBELER (0132307413)
ENGINEERING MECH: STATICS & DYNAMICS (SET-TEXT/2 S PH

New $277.20
Used $207.90

$207.90 for a USED book from the bookstore for a class that is an ME class for EE's. I understand the importance of being a well rounded engineer, but for christsakes, statics and dynamics for a EE shouldn't cost 155 dollars (on amazon) plus 150+ dollar lab fee.

see if you can find somebody to share a book with. You only need it for the homework problems really. You'll get the rest from lectures (assuming you have Bohm). He's good about putting up slides that have pretty much all the examples you'll need. All you should have to do is print those out and bring them to class.

Or if you can find somebody who has the books from the seperate statics and dynamics classes I think that might work. The book's so expensive because it's actually 2 books in one. Bohm didn't even have the real book, he just used the two seperate ones.

That is ridiculous, considering Amazon says it lists for 197 and they want 155. (assuming the number in your quote was the ISBN (0132307413))

IDE 50 is statics
IDE 150 / ME 160 / AE 160 are dynamics

The books for those classes are the two-in-one that you are supposed to get for IDE140. Find a friend that has taken these classes (as they are pretty common and required for a significant chunk of the engineering majors here) and ask to borrow their book(s), assuming they haven't sold them back yet. These books hold their value better than most others I have seen.
