Yay for complete rapeage.
The class I was in averaged a 37/100, and the class that he teaches after mine averaged a 31/100. WTF??
He isn't going to curve the test, rather he'll let you correct your mistakes and get a max of half of the points you missed back. It's better than nothing, but NO ONE has a chance of getting an A.
Rant here.

you would think some kind of warning light would go off in his head..."everyone failed? it must be too hard"

If all the material had been taught then everyone would have a better chance... but noone can do better than a C! The highest was a 61 in all the classes. He should curve it but that would be the same concept as giving partial credit!

What a bitch, I thought I was in contention for the high score with my 49. Between Brigham for DiffyQ and Veer for calc 3, i'm losing faith in the math department.

And that's exactly what happened. Someone in class said, "Don't you think the test average is a reflection of your teaching ability and the quality of the test?" He replied by basically saying no, and pretty much told us that we didn't study hard enough.
I managed to get a 57. Not sure what the high was in my class, maybe 59 or so.

Had to drop to hearer in that class, only because I needed the hours to keep my scholarships. Hopefully I can either retake it over the summer and transfer it here, or just take it again next semester with a good teacher. I learned more in the 2 days that dr. Grow subbed than the rest of the semester. I've never had a teacher make so many basic math mistakes in his examples than Reg.

I had Veer for Calc III; she related well to students and had a good command of the subject. Unconventional teaching-style... I remember her once responding to a sarcastic comment about a problem... "Yes, now let's bust-out some arctangent-action". Good times.
Akers was teaching Calc III at that point... she probably suffers in comparison. It's all about the exp.

I agree with Jollypex, it is all about experiance, and you have to keep in mind that Reg is a grad student, his experience in teach math consists mostly of calc 1 TA. I had him as my calc 1 TA, his quizzes were really hard, and we had one of the lowest averages as a section (comparing to other sections last semester).
I think there is also a certain personality needed to to teach well, but that is better for a different post.
