Anybody have any interest in training for the upcoming season? Myself and several other UMR students have been preparing for the races and were wondering if there were any other students who would be interested in doing some triathlons with us this spring/summer? No experience necessary, though some experience in one of the disciplines (running, biking, swimming) would make things much easier for you. Triathlons are tons of fun, and are very rewarding to train for and complete. Central Missouri is one of the most competitive areas in the entire nation (The Columbia tri club is the reigning national champion) so there are many competitive races within a short distance of Rolla. We'll be organizing some group runs/rides so let us know if you are interested.

I usually do triathlons during the summer, but I'm in the middle of track season and am not really able to bike or swim very often. If you want any help with training I can help out with running and cycling and I would highly recommend attending a UMR cycling club meeting. There are a lot of people doing road bike training right now. If there is enough interest people might try to start some sort of umr multisport club.

I'd be interested in joining in...I've been semi training since last June and in the last few months I've been managing to find time to actually train. I'm just focusing on a sprint one now though.

Sprints are fun! That's what most of us are gearing up for, at least to kick off the season with. If you are interested, PM me and I'll keep you updated on when we plan on working out/which triathlons we plan on doing.

Anyway

If someone would train with us 2-3 time a week (for each sport, we are training close to every day) is the welcome.
Usually we train around 7.30 pm for about one hour.

It is a good time, and a great way to get in awesome shape. If anybody wants to join in, don't let the fact that a triathlon is 3 separate events scare you off. If you are like the rest of us, you'll probably have 1 even that you really like, and just kind of tolerate the other two.

Speaking of the cycling club, I need to come to your next meeting to pay my dues so I can have access to open shop. I'm building a tri-bike and don't have all the needed tools. When is open shop anymore?
