This storm could bring down the electrical grid if the ice predictions come true

Will the University notify us in ADVANCE of closings so I can make a decision abt classes?

If so how? Maybe a text based system?

Just do like I do: get a 4wd vehicle and check your email in the morning before class.

I dont think a 4WD will be of much help if we get the ice they are forecasting.

Also, that much ice wil cause downed power lines and no electricity

I still had class even though DHS was basically shutting down campus. National guardsmen with automatic weapons didn't stop me from getting to Schrenk from TJ. good luck getting the university to officially cancel class on account of a little weather - they didn't even do it for a terrorist threat.

Side note - it's been 4 years since terrorist Tuesday. Anybody know if our terrorist is still serving time or was he deported eventually?

What a glorious day Terrorist Tuesday was... It was 65+ degrees outside, so I took my then gf (now wife) to play tennis...

In regards to the weather... fuck ya'll. I'm stuck in Texas where all it does is shine and rain. I want some goddamn snow down here

There was an e-mail this morning at 5:25 AM.

Quote:
The Missouri University of Science and Technology campus is closed today (Tuesday, Feb. 1) due to weather conditions. All classes for today have been canceled and Missouri S&T offices are closed. Students should notify their families of this announcement.

Due to the 24/7 nature of some campus operations, those employees considered “situationally critical” in accordance with University of Missouri policy (http://www.umsystem.edu/ums/departments ... /217.shtml) should report to work. Staff should check with their supervisors to determine if they are “situationally critical.”

For the benefit of Missouri S&T students, the Havener Center, Curtis Laws Wilson Library, Student Health Services and the Student Recreation Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

The university will announce plans for Wednesday by 5 p.m. today.

For more information and updates on how weather conditions will impact the campus, visit Missouri S&T’s “in case of emergency” website at http://ice.mst.edu.

I'm actually kind of upset that there isn't class today. It isn't even that bad outside (right now...). This is also the first time I've ever had a school's-closed snow day.

Back in my day a student had to take hostages with a bag of powdered sugar to get a snow day. You all have it too easy.
