Why are the student organizations painting the street in front of Havener? Is it permanent paint or something that is temporary? Is it for a specific event?

It's called Paint the Street. It's akin to the annual Chalk the Walk. Since that street is going to be torn up in a couple years, they decided that it would be cool to paint the street with large murals.

I think there are poles somewhere around that street. Anyone thinking of painting over it with a big gumby?
As amusing as that would be, it'd also be a huge dick move by ruining those groups' hard work.

Just FYI, they are keeping an eye on that street to watch for said "dicks."

Some idiots decided to paint during the rain the other day, and now their square is all smeared and green paint ran down the side of the road. Good job, guys!
the anime club's block looks really kickass so far. Hope it gets finished soon.

I wouldn't pin your hopes too high.. everytime I walk past them, there's about 3-4 people just laying down in the shade.. like they are waiting for someone.. but one day I walked past them going to the RC and then about an hour or so later I walked past again, all of them in the same position...

i like the strongbad one, didnt read it though. That was the only really cool one I saw though. Who picked the groups, it seems like a really weird assortment of clubs and what not.

Yeah, we're trying to get out there and finish the painting, but this weather freaking SUX! I can't believe that the one block that people actually screwed up on was the St. Pat's painting. The basis of the anime design is down already, though. We're just going to be filling in the colors and finishing the background. It seems like most of the time, the person who has the paint is gone somewhere, so people come out to help paint but just end up lying there because they don't have any supplies.
Also, the organizations were "picked." The president of each organization had to sign up to be able to paint. If you don't see your favorite club/organization on the street, it's because they're too damn lazy to get out and do some actual work.
