Just in case not everyone knows, there is a new go cart track about a mile past brewer science on V highway. I went there tonight and it was a blast. As far as go cart tracks go, these are pretty fast and the prices are pretty good also. I think it was 3 four minute rides for 10.50 or something like that, or one for 4 dollars. lukecp will back me up on this, its a pretty fun place to go.

Yes, it is very fun indeed. As Cuz knows, make sure to get car #6, for some awesome go-kart drifting action.

Wow, I was there Wednesday night, and it wasn't so great. The cars were nice enough and all, and the prices and ride time was good, but the cars weren't fast enough for the track.

I could run the whole race without ever letting off the gas, and I wouldn't slide or anything around the corners. Catching up to someone was next to impossible. There were 5 of us, and if we wanted to have any fun passing and what not, we'd have to let off the gas just a bit for someone to be able to actually pull up beside us.

Just my opinion, and I've ridden my share of go-kart tracks.

All the cars there have no tread, so they all can drift. They all go the same speed so it is hard to catch up to anyone else, but it is possible by taking the turns intelligently. And yea, you can go around the entire track with letting off the gas, which is sad considering there is a 180 degree turn.

Wouldn't you want all of the cars to go the same speed, imagine being the guy with the slow car...

All I'm saying is that the cars should go just a little faster, they're obviously governed, so if they just raise the level of the governor then it would force people to have to race smarter. Basically make it to where if you're holding the gas pedal down as you take a turn, you'd end up sliding a bit and losing some time. That way, you'd have to wisen up, and know what you're doing to catch up to other people

The only problem with that is the majority of people going to a go cart track don't know how to race smarter. If the raise the govenor, you'd probably just end up with a bunch of carts spinning out and stuck against the barriers.

Point being: they govern the throttle for convenience and safety reasons. You need to go somewhere else for real speed.

If you need some speed just steal someones car and drive it around real fast. Drive it like you stole it.

^ I read the whole thread...What are you getting at? I agree that the thread started out talking about the fun factor of it, but the subject has changed. I see nothing wrong with the post above yours in terms of fitting into this thread. If that Is indeed even what you are trying to prove here.

The thread was announcing the 'greatness' of the go-kart track, but I disagreed and stated my reasons why the go-kart track wasn't so great. Ever since then, there's been small discussion on karts, speed, and tracks.

Gamer Donkey's point being was that you needed to go somewhere else for real speed. That's the exact same point that I've been trying to make the whole time. The original poster said the track was awesome, but I said the karts weren't fast enough for the track. So, I'm saying the go-kart track isn't all that much fun, and I'd much rather be racing somewhere else.

Ah. I do follow. It just seemed you were being critical of someone who supported your opinion.

As far as sliding goes, I was able to get the rear wheels on all of the go-karts I drove to slide to some degree. Kart 6 seemed to be able to get sideways very easily. It was impossible to drift all the way around the curves, and as said you could pretty much put it to the floor the entire time. I'm sure there are far better go kart tracks, but this one is in Rolla...
