Just wondering how many people were bringing their bikes to rolla after the weather breaks? Is there a good place to keep them,
like the self storage units? I've seen a couple bikes still buzzing around in this weather. One guy was out the day after that little
snow we had.
I'm planning on bringing mine up after my co-op is done, and just parking it in a garage. Are there any organized/semi-organized motorcycle groups at the school? Been here 3 years and I still haven't heard of one.
There is a semi-organized group with a list-serv. Email Clayton James (ctjvd3 @ umr.edu) to get added to the listserv. It would be stupid not to bring your bike here unless you just ride around town and have huge pussy strips on your tires to show it. Hwy 19 between Salem and Eminence is the best road around but there are other roads that are good too and closer. Get county maps of Phelps, Maries, Texas and other surrounding counties and just go out and ride.
I myself an going to pick up a Yamaha TZ250 racebike in the near future and will probably bring it to Rolla for a weekend to get acclimated with the beast before going to some trackdays this summer.
I guess I'll do that once I get back, no point doing it now. Arkansas is practically all perfect bike roads as long as you stay off I-40 and I-30. I'm not a racer though, I ride a '94 BMW K75, basically a sport-touring bike. I've ridden with a few crotchrocket guys, but they have a tendency to want to go 90 to 100, and I have a tendency to want to live to see the next day, so it didn't work out. Hopefully won't have that problem in Rolla.
I know a few people with cruisers (I'm a cruiser fan). And during the nice times of the year, 2 or 3 of us would go out and just ride about 2 times a week.
Is that list-serv for sport-bikes only? Or just anyone with a motorcycle?
