OK, I'm doing a presentation and I in the presentation I want to suggest that UMR make it mandatory for all freshmen take some sort of a physical wellness class during their first two semesters.
My question is to which administrative body at UMR do I make the recomendation? I tried the UMR search thingy, but was instantly reminded why I never use it.
If anyone has any suggestions on which administrative body it is, or a better way to find out which one it is, I'll gladly give them some e-props...or a thank you.

A P.E. class would be cool in my opinion, since I care about it. A class on nutrition and how this country is making everybody fat would be even better though.

No, not all fat people make themselves fat, some people try to lose weight, maybe lose a little, and then go back to there normal diet, and gain it all back plus about 20 more lbs. This is coming from a guy who used to weigh right at 300lbs, I've since changed that.
If I can say one thing about losing FAT in a engineering perspective...Nutrition>Excercise, even if a fat person didn't/couldn't excercise, if he/she changed the way they eat, the pounds would fall off of them to an extent to where maybe they would maybe become motivated to workout.
The problem with "diets" is that your everyday life is a diet, and none of the crap that companys sell in pill form is going to make you lean and "healthy" in the long run. They are only in it for the money.
There where no where near the amount of Obese people back when our parents where in there teens, why, because today is the age of the quick meal, thus, fast food was born, even then though, my dad said the first Mcdonalds in our hometown area didn't open until after here graduated from highschool, and they used to cut there fries fresh from potato's everyday, along with using fresh beef. If you want to know what they are like today, watch the movie supersize me.
OK I'm tired of rambling now, hopefully there are no spelling errors above, because I am to lazy to read it again.

Are you talking about a pe class or what? Would you have to pay for it?
What it would be could be anything from a new Tai Chi course to a current course like Golfing. As for payment, I don't know. I guess you would have to pay for it...maybe waive an upper-level humanities course or something really useless like BE10.
However, I'm not really gonna do anything, this is just a made up project. All I really need to find now is the correct administrative body to pretend badger about getting a mandatory course for the new freshmen. I'm still not having any luck with the umr.edu search.

It would be awesome if we had a rock climbing class. SBU has a similar course and it was tons of fun. Plus the mere fact that rock climbing is just plain awesome

I would go for that. In my HS, we had to have 2 PE credits to graduate. I think it was good. [Ok, I had 7, so sue me. ]. Grading would be interesting though....

I agree 100%. I tried to lose weight simply by exercising, and it didn't work. When I started dieting, and continued with the exercise, it worked. I've lost 35 pounds so far, and I'm going for another 5-10. During one week over spring break I ate a lot of fast food and other large meals, and did pretty much nothing physical, and gained 4 pounds. I've ran it all off since then, but when you get to your weight loss goal, you can't just hop back into your old lifestyle. What I've found is that soda, or any type of beverage with sugar in it, is a no-no (I drink nothing but water and beer), and fast food is also a no-no. That and keep portions small. I'll admit I drink too much beer, but I also run almost every day so it makes up for it.

lol, I can't even drink Orange Juice because it has too much sugar in it now. Water, milk, and the occasional vodka are my drinks of choice.

S'Why I stopped drinking soda cold-turkey earlier this school year. It's so bad for you in so many ways: the carbonation, the sugar, the caffeine.
