well its most certenaly been an interesting weekend.
on saturday someone managed to get my paypal account info, user name and password. With that information they bout a psp with accesories for $575 with over night shipping, and they also paid for some online rpg game called maple for anohter $30. Well I get an email from paypal telling me that the payment has been completed, I was rather confused by this email so I log into my paypal account woundering what it was talking about and there were the transactions. I contated paypal imediatly, emailed the seller of the psp and contacted my bank. So my paypal account is in the red but my acutal money wanst touched.
As far as i know the psp wasnt shipped. So i resecure my paypal account and a few other accounts, canceled my creditcard, since i wasnt using it anyways and was going to do so on monday. I went out for the day and when i got home the little fucker had made another purchase on anohter site (http://www.geeks.com) using the same username and password, but since geeks still had the info of my cancelled card i got an email telling me to fix the payment method, instead i got the order cancelled.
All and all the moron spent $850 on two sites with money that doesnt exist, their not getting anything except possibly whatever they got on that maple game thing, but i can only assume their account will be banned once this all goes through. Im in the process of filing a police report, and its all i can do to not laugh at this moron. Not only did the companies track the ip addy of the purchasing comptuer, and ive got a shipping address valid or not. But the funniest thing is the guy didnt change any of my account information, password, email and everything remained untouched. no lose to me or really anyone but this poor asshat.
im working with the rolla pd, the buffalo pd and the fbi on this one.. its perty sweet really, but i could have done without it right at the end of the semester just before finals, but it gives me some joy knowing that some poor asshole is gonna get fucked worse then me even if i do bad on my finals.
ahhh feels so much better... just needed to vent

Haha, good stuff. Our family had someone try to buy a boat on my father's credit card. I don't know about you, but I'd like to meet the rich scmuck who carries a $250,000 credit line on a single card. Needless to say, the situation was resolved, no harm done to us.

They said that someone from an ip I didn't recognize tried to access my account.. I thought it was odd that paypal tracked ip's considering I may or may not be on the same machine, but.. it looked legit, so I went ahead to the site.. looked legit again, I thought it looked a little different, but I don't see paypal enough to really know the site.. I typed in my account login and password and clicked login.. then I looked at the url.. saw it wasn't at paypal.com.. hit the stop button.. changed my password and I think I will be ok...
a by the letter phishing scheme.. I kinda feel dumb.. oh well

There was one on eBay I almost fell for. The guy's link on the product he was selling took you to a login page that looks exactly like eBay's. Hadn't even crossed my mind that I was already logged in, so I typed my name and password in just as usual. Realized what it was at the last second and quickly hit stop. Still changed my password around on all my major accounts (since I use the same username most places).

did your username/password match another site? I ussually use Worseley on all my sites, but I'm pretty good at keeping different passwords. Although I'm pretty good at forgeting them once in a while.
On a side note... I hear your my replacement at UPS... or at least the one to fill in the bottem position while everyone else moves up a spot.
