I need to get a job in the fall, so I intend to find somewhere to wait tables. Does anybody know a good place to work in town where I can make lots of money and work fixed hours?

If you like, the Missouri Miner is always looking for writers, photographers, and ad reps. You pretty much make your own hours, and it's really really easy work.

Just go to all the places in town. Don't tell them you are a college student or most places won't hire you. The managers are typically intimidated by people more educated than them.

Actually, I'm interested in movie/music review, and potentially professional sports. If you can, send over some details at kjk437@umr.edu.

The miner is a good job. You can make good money.

Applebees might be the best place to wait tables. You can try blockbuster. Just go around and ask places and as long as you don't act like a cocky asshole you should have no problem.

Haha, I applied to Subway and Hardee's. Subway first said we can prolly hire you today. Then after looking at my app, they basically said we'll call you if anything comes up. And hardee's said: "You're not really Hardee's material"

What about Zeno's or Huddle House?

Zeno's is a good place to wait tables. They're kinda expensive so the tips pour in. They're on the same road as Ground Round.

That's fucking stupid.

Managers are sometimes wary of hiring college students because they know they most likely won't be as flexible with their schedules during the semester, and in a restaurant, managers need their employees to be able to cover for people who don't show (which happens a lot).

I'd say Applebee's employees get the best tips of any restaurant in Rolla, followed closely by Zeno's and Ground Round.

You might try 10th Street Dinner House. It's a pretty nice little steak house a little down 10th street from country mart. I worked there last semester and they're pretty good about working around a college schedule. They only hire people who are over 21 to wait tables.

So what is hardee's material? Are students too smart to work there?

If they hire a student then the cash register would balance at the end of the day. It would make all the other eployees look bad.

They gots them a 5th grade edumecation and they be taking shit from no one.

I got hired at steak n shake as a transfer from St. Louis. They are also hiring servers. If you like a dirty, disorganized, unprofessional environment, by all means check them out. I applied at Kroger and Blockbuster, so you can have my job.

And if you don't like cherry flavored ants, don't order a drink in the drive thru anytime soon. I'm not saying they are in the soda, I'm just saying, they could be.

Hooray for franchised restaurants.
