I e-mailed them back in April to cancel my dorm contract because I'm not living in their hellholes anymore. I checked my student account today, and they charged me for a TJ suite (where I was last year) and a Shitwells meal plan. I kept a copy of the e-mail I originally sent them back in April (I was told at their office at Norwood to e-mail them. I would have rather seen them rip up the contract right there, but whatever) and just forwarded that to them. Now obviously this is their mistake, and 100% not my fault, but I'm wondering if I have a fight ahead of me to not get charged cancellation fees.

I also hate the Registrar and Financial Aid. EVERY year I've been here I've had to go in and do something to get my financial aid to pay out, because it NEVER does, always because they fuck something up. The level of incompentence at most of the non-academic departments at UMR is huge.

I don't deal with Financial Aid. I don't have any scholarships or government loans (too dumb and too rich I guess? ). I get student loans from a bank that gives the money directly to me, and I then pay the tuition myself (which is what I was doing when I logged into Joe'ss this afternoon and nearly shat myself when my student account was about $4,000 more than I thought I owed)

I don't get alot of scholarships or loans, but enough that I really need them to pay for school. Last year it didn't pay out because financial aid had me down for one birthdate, and the registrar for another. Another year they tried to charge me interest on money that my aid hadn't paid yet, and I know I went in there at least one other time for something stuipd. It hasn't actually worked all by itself yet...I'm sure I'll have to go in again this fall and get them to do their jobs.

As a side note about the horrid mail service at TJ, my contract and such to resign up for a room was 'lost in the mail,' figures.

O yeah there is still a huge charge coming from our room, when they were looking through rooms they found a huge crack over your bed. I told them you slept there, so they said they were gonna charge a couple hundred to your account. NOt sure when that's gonna happen.

Another side note, shouldn't this thread be "Fucking Todd in the Ass (just as he likes it)," as no one is really fucking reslife, but you are allegedly taking it in da booty

If you were going to get a charge it probably would have been yesterday, because that's when I got my charge for "TJ Damages" in the amount of $1.61 or something close to that. On a related note, Financial aid decided to cut my subsidized loans by $2000 for next year because they were correcting an "error" on their part. Never got any notification. I guess I'm expected to alter my budget hugely because I consulted the tarot cards or something, because that's more efficient than waiting for a letter to let me know I'm getting f'ed in the a. Also I work 65 hours a week (suck it, todd) and have no way but to communicate via email because I'm working 8pm to 8am on mon-fri and they've actually been really nice about screwing me over. Go figure. I'd expect res life to be the same way. Incompetent but nice.

The $1.61 might have been what everyone on 6 south was charged.

To bring up something else, why do you have to be that way Phil? The man is trying to ask a straightforward question in the hopes that someone out there has a similar experience, and you have to try to shoot him down like that. It is 100% not necessary. Not only is it a waste of everyone's time who reads this, but it's a waste of your time for even considering typing something like that, let alone typing it. Sorry if I'm ranting, but that's what I have to say about that. An unnecessarily long post on unnecessary posts.
