I was just randomly thinking today about the Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" (or "Real American Heroes") radio commercials, and I was wondering what kind of commercials we could come up with about the unsung "heroes" of UMR.
I'd like to avoid a negative tone (though a sarcastic positive tone is the point of most of the radio jingles), singling out any one real person (such as a professor), and touchy subjects like religion, politics, etc.
This isn't really a contest or anything (though we could make it one if someone volunteered to organize it, offered a prize, offered to record a CD, etc.), but listen to some of the jingles at http://diis.net/article.php?story=budlight and see what kind of lyrics you can come up with.
I haven't had time to come up with any lyrics yet, but I've thought of some possible starting points, "Mr. Parking Violations Enforcer" or "Mr. Lecture-Ignoring Laptop Sudoku Player".
If anyone has a better name than "Real Miner Heroes" and a more UMR-applicable phrase than "so crack open an ice-cold Bud Light", let me know. As I recall, they changed the "Real American Heroes" after the 9/11 attacks.

I just found this on a Truman State Facebook group. Thought it would apply.
Quote:
"Bud Light Presents: Real Men of Genius: Today we salute you, Mr. Constant Collar Put-er Upper. You, be-decked in a popped collar, teach us that we no longer have to live with a cold, back of the neck. Sure, your Pink alligator polo may look feminine to some, but not to the 17 other frat guys wearing the same thing at the bar. Where others may see thoughtless fashion conformity, you preach a higher gospel. You preach of a world where its okay for a man to go tanning. You ask "why can't we wear make-up and use shampoo with lavendar essence?" So crack open an ice-cold Bud Light, Mr. Abercrombie, because we all know, when we really need a piece of gum, you might have one... in your man purse."
