Dumb-ass me forgot to sign up in advance for a parking spot, so I won't know for about a month whether or not I'm going to even have a spot this year. So, where's the most reliable spot to park on the street? Doesn't really matter where, so long as it's closer than the A-frames.

ya, this is gay. Im an imcoming frosh, but I live at my house cuz im from Rolla. Anyways, i dont have anywhere to park. its shit. I requested a permit a while back, but they still havent got back to me. Pisses me off cuz ive got 2 tickets already.
I can't remember the name of the street...the one across from the BSU if you're heading from the quad. The Delano's gas station is on the corner. Yeah, that road worked a few times for me and a friend from UMKC.
Fair enough. I guess I'll figure out where the spots are after a couple of days (and hopefully the police department comes through in a timely manner), but I was just curious if anyone could give me a leg up on the competition.
basically, any place is fair game as long as the curb isn't painted yellow or blue, and of course there aren't any no parking signs. if you don't expect to get a spot just across the street (unless arriving at the asscrack of dawn) and just park within a couple of blocks, you'll save yourself a lot of stress and find spots pretty easily
For the first few months of my freshman year I was able to find parking on the street between EE and Alpha Phi Alpha, but I had to wait until after dark to find a spot. If I would leave during the day my spot would be taken. So if you get a spot there, try not to drive anywhere unless you have too. The metered spots are also availalbe, but of course you have to pay. I drive to class occasionally if it is raining or very cold, and before 8am its pretty easy to find a metered spot across from EE or Civil.
The road between ERL and St. Pat's is usually decent, you can get a spot there in the evenings pretty consistantly, just don't drive anywhere during the day. I parked there last year living in TJ.

Being from Rolla, I'm in the same boat as you (though I'm a sophomore), and all I can say is this: be frickin' careful where you park. I got well over $100 in parking tickets last year. The gayest one was $30 (or more) because I parked in a lot (that was half-empty) without a permit with the wrong end sticking out. Another homo-ghey one was when I parked at multi - the frickin' multipurpose building! - to work out and got a $10 ticket. They said I needed to have some kind of 'free sticker' on my car to allow me to park there. How ridiculous.
Oh, and don't even try to appeal any tickets. You'll get rejected every time.

$100 in tickets? You probably still spent less money than you would've on a pass.

I am pretty sure that someone said on here last year, that if you get two for one offense like that, that you can get one of them removed....

A lot of people park on the East side of State St. by the chancellor's house. Just don't block his drive way or park in a No Parking Zone or you will get a hefty ticket, especially for the first couple weeks.
