Ok, so after reading this document and seeing how broadly worded the document is...
and finding that the Stowers family is supplying 95% of the advertising for Missouri.
This Sounds a bit scandalicious to me.
I have come to the conclusion that this document accomplishes nothing that isn't already allowed in Missouri, other than putting a constitutional ammendment in place that bans removing or reducing any state funding for companies like the "stowers institute". I'm sorry, but their commercials make this sound like it "allows" Missourians to get stem cell treatments, when there is nothing preventing them in the first place. Its just seems a ploy for money to me...
This pisses me off enough that I'm finally going to register to vote.
So how/where can I go to get the registration forms?
Do they have something on campus somewhere? If not, they should, it would be a great opportunity, especially with the low numbers of voters these days, to get college students interested in helping make decisions for their government.

as for the stem cell initiative, im glad someone else agrees that the whole thing is bullshit. there are so many reasons to oppose it, not only on moral grounds, but also the aforementioned monetary "iffy-ness"

The word "bi-partisan" usually means some larger-than-usual deception is being carried out.

I love it when private companies make it a crime for the government to decide how to spend money. Shows what the real issue is.

I don't believe they're referring to stem cell research alone, so much as the specific bills they're attempting to get passed. Having heard some of the commercials, I have to agree, they're being deceitful asses about it. They're basically making it sound like if this bill isn't passed, ANY cures found later involving stem cells cannot be used in MO....as if only certain states will be able to enjoy the benefits if and when this research finally pays off.
Abortion, cloning, morals, etc. don't really enter into it with regards to the current discussion, it's just a matter of the people pushing for the initiative trying to bend the truth to get folks to make the gov. give them funding.

I addition to my own opposition on the aforementioned abortion and the like, there is also the problem with a private company essentially buying an amendment.

Unfortunately, too many people don't read the amendments before they vote, they rely on the ever-truthful 'paid advertisement' to make their decisions for them.
Please spread the word, there aren't any corporations shelling out hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to counteract their false advertising, and most politicians are too scared to come out against it for fear of losing those voters who have already been swindled into supporting this.

Interestingly enough, I just found out that instead of banning human cloning, this bill protects a procedure called Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer, which is the technical name for "cloning."
Very intersting, isn't it?
