All you hear about is solar turd and nothing about Baja, Formula, AAVG, and the list goes on. These teams have competitions every year and as soon as solar turd gets one UMR posts it on their web page. Who cares, they are over funded and technically they desgin nothing on their car.
Besides Solar car just was just about non-exsistent since the Gov. pulled their money out of the SunRayce competition. Hell SAE doesn't even sponsor them, but they sponsor all of the above mentioned teams.
I think the only reason more people like the solar car team is that is has been around longer, and, oh yeah, they are nationally known and have been world champions a bunch of times?!?!
But I don't really care about any of the teams. Why should one be better than another anyways?
So basically, stfu, nobody cares about your rant.

I'm sure some putty is placed in a cookie cutter that was made 10 years ago and baked a 583 degrees and out pops another identical solar car as last year. Yes, I'm sure that's it. No. You're actually seeing the same solar with a new paint job and money each year is really going toward buying an island in the pacific.

Tell me if I'm wrong here, folks, but I would gather that the design teams are more important than sports on campus, but the focus paid to any particular team is based on what people want to hear about. Again drawing the sports comparison, all you ever hear about in college sports is football, football, and a side of football. UMR really isn't an exception. We have one hell of a swimming team, but (and no offense to the swimmers, as I personally like to read about your triumphs and so on) everyone wants to read about the football team. Same goes for the solar car.
However, check the Miner this week, as there is some good coverage of other teams.

Maybe you should pull your head out of your ass and pay some attention. The Chem car was on there last week, I have seen the SAE car before, and I have seen the flight thing on there. Maybe the UMR webpage should just be a shitload of links so wankers like you won't whine.

AAVG (my team) is looking to get some more recognition, we will have a spread in a national rocketry magazine, and are looking to get some more if we do really well this year (a def possibility). Solar Car got all the publicity b/c of their national wins; to catch the eye of the university, you need to win, and find a way to make yourself marketable. Its all politics, but you can help yourself along.

the SAE car is shiny. the problem is that it looks like a F1 racer. Americans don't like that European racing BS. They like nascar (although i don't understand that obsession)
