That's actually been up since April, I believe. The interesting though, is that the domain name was reserved before Missouri S&T was officially decided on by the curators. *cue x-files tune*

How many other domains did we register to cover for potential names? It seems more of a smart move than a suspicious(sp?) one.

When MST was announced, Scott Dalton (network admin and DNS admin) told our networking class that he knew about it for awhile.....

No.... I can't believe that for a minute. On a side note, I have been getting as confused as hell (I am sorry, I am slow) because departmental (Met and Cer Eng) emails kept going out talking about MS&T. MS&T stands for Material Science and Technology....

Oh, and since someone else brought it up, why the hell didn't they change the name, if they wanted to change the name? Instead, the idiots just ADDED another name. I know the three acronyms look really professional....

How many DID they reserve? How can you even find that? I know, I know, I am a newb...

Um...I have no idea. I was kindof asking the question myself, not trying to be arrogant or something. I was merely suggesting that if we were picking up domain names before we actually knew for sure, they wouldn't have just gotten a single one.

My guess would be that it was just the one, and it was reserved when it was decided that Missouri S&T was the name that was going to be presented to the Curators.
On another note, I think I remember hearing that http://www.ms&t.edu has already been reserved (or will be reserved as soon as possible) in case internet protocols ever support using '&' in web and email addresses.

My guess is that the edu domains are pretty heavily regulated, like gov and mil domains. They probably only registered one address... but... I could be totally wrong.

No.... I can't believe that for a minute.

Why? He's listed as the contact for the domain, he's the DNS administrator, and the domain was registered a few weeks before the change was announced. And, he'd have no reason to lie to us either.....

Ahhhh....my sarcasm detector wasn't working up to par tonight. Damn seriousness of home work :D

But yeah, in reference to Altaica, I have a feeling the name was decided on long before they announced it to us. I guess they think that acting as if they're undecided makes us think that they care about our opinions or something

If it matters, they also mailed out the postcards to freshmen telling them to come visit MS&T before it was decided also.

I love how must MO S&T merchandice has been released regaurdless of the fact that it wasn't supposed to be allowed until January 2008. I heard something about them using alumni donations instead of state funds, but it still seems like an unessisary waste of donations from alumni.

This was never an "idea."
