Thoughts on the following set of rules? These do not include forum-specific rules.
Additions, removals?
========
General Rules:
1) Do not talk about ANYTHING illegal in this forum. 2) Stay as on-topic as possible. We realize threads tend to stray a bit, just don't go overboard. 3) Do NOT bump threads older than THREE months unless you have a legitimate response. This means no bumping threads to put a smiley face. 4) If your post is edited, a mod should contact you with a reason as to why via PM. If you feel you were wronged, bring this up with the mod in private. If that does not work, bring it up with the site administrators. 5) Make sure you are posting in the correct section of the forums.
Moderator Rules:
1) If you are unsure about an edit, ask one of the site administrators. 2) If you make an edit, notify the person you are editing via PM as to why. 3) Edits should only be necessary if one of the General or Forum-Specific rules are broken. 4) Do not abuse power. Abusing power will result in... demodification. (see what we did there?) 5) Tag your edits
They've evolved over time into Strikeable-Rules (1,2,4,5,9,10) and the Taboos that cause instant lock/post deletion. The "four strikes and you're out" rule works well.

How about instead of PM's for most posts edits, we just use the mod edit box and then lock the post (benm showed me that the user can edit the post after the actual mod edit)
Unless of course it warrants using PM, but that would be at the discretion of the mod.

lol like you have discretion .
That works I suppose. It was more or less so they were notified when it happened and not checking back a day or so later to see that it happened.
